I have an increase of floaters in both my eyes. Left eye worst then right one. It stared about a year ago but got worse. I see shapes of pipes, black dots, and blurry vision when watching tv in the dark. I just want to know am I losing my sight and if so, What can I do to stop it the floaters. I have no health insurance , unemployed. If I go to emergency room would they help me?

Dear fffffdf,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD.  Look for symptoms of flashing lights when your eyes are closed, a sudden change in the number of floaters or a curtain coming down. These require immediate care.  Usually floaters will become less pronounced over time; however, you should have your eyes examined.

Hi I know this is for Dr's to respond to your post, and I am far from a Dr but please go see a Dr. This happened to my mom in 2006. Her vision was blury and she had floaters in her eyes. She knew that she needed to go to the Dr but had no money or health insurance. So now she is blind due to glaucoma and cataracts. I'm not saying thats what u have but I dont want what happened to my mom to happen to you or anyone else.

GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! ANY CHANGE IN VISION SHOULD BE A WARNING SIGN THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG AND YOU NEED TO BE SEEN BY AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST. YOU COULD HAVE ANY NUMBER OF PROBLEMS LIKE A RETINAL DETACHMENT THAT COULD ROB YOU OF YOUR SIGHT! I don't like to shout but it's really really important that you seek help regardless of your financial situation as there are always assistance programs/payment options that can be implemented to help you. So, please do not wait to seek help.

You should go see an eye MD soon. You may be developing vitreous degeneration (vitreous floaters) in your eyes. You can google vitreous degeneration & PVD to learn more. You also may need glasses. I would seen an opthamologist and let them decide. No one can diagnose you on here. Don't let some of the posts on here scare you, but definitely go see a doctor ASAP & don't take any chances with your sight. Good luck!
