Hi!
I have a couple of questions and appreciate your time to read this!
I am a 48 yr old female with a history of demyelinating disease. Last year I had a few flares of severe weakness and was treated with high dose Solumedrol, which works very well for me. I have not really had visual symptoms except for double vision on occasion and only during flares. I do get nystagmus when vertigo is a problem.
Yesterday I went to an optometrist to get contact lenses. I just got a new glasses prescription in December when my old glasses broke. The optometrist was surprised at how much my prescription had changed in so little time (I had noticed, this, too). She also said my eye pressure was a bit high and both optic nerves were enlarged. She referred me to an ophthalmalogist. She stressed how important it was for me to go.
During the exam, when I closed my right eye, I developed dark spots in my vision field. It really alarmed me.
I will make an appointment with a doc, but would like any thoughts or ideas anyone has. Also, the optometrist recommended I wear only one contact for near-sightedness and the need for bifolcals or reading. Does this make sense? Does it take time to get used to? Is it worth it? I'm trying it and it doesn't seem to be working.... :-)
Thanks for your time! I hope all are well! Take care!
