Irregular pupils & Eyelid Retraction

RyJ
Hi and congratulations on this fantastic site,
Very pleased with what i have read so far in comparison to my problems & worries.

Im a 21 year old male, physically fit(enough).I regularly use my laptop for maybe 10hours p/day,sometimes more.Obviously with times of break(Breakfast, dinner, etc.)

For sometime now,i have had a problem with my eye pupils reacting to light/dark environments.1 eye pupil is constantly larger than the other-But not as erratic when im near very bright lighting(Infact, very similar in size-equally small)I see this as being very noticeable as my eyes are very light blue. Therefore,I have looked into coloured contacts to reduce the noticeability, but having tried regular contacts previously, they just dont seem to agree with me.I also suffer from very dry, irritated eyes, daily.

My other query is,Occasionally*(more often, recently) When i wake up,my right-upper eye lid seems to 'sink' back into my eye socket>Eyelid Retraction, seems to be the case after researching the net.It causes dis-comfort to my eye and can become irritating-I have tried splashing water into my eye(Thinking it could just be due to dry eyes/lids)But this fails to help. And have to put up with it for the rest of the day, until it starts to settle-very slightly.

Any tips,suggestions,advice-Greatly appreciated.

Thank you & keep up the good work,
Ry

You should consider being checked for thyroid disease and have ophthalmologist see if you truly have lid retraction and possibly thyroid eye disease or grave's disease.  The pupils being unequal also concerns me.  If the eye with smaller pupil also had a droopy eyelid then Horner's syndrome could be possible.  If there is one eye with larger pupil and droopy eyelid, then third nerve palsy could be a possibility.  Lid retraction alone is most often due to grave's disease.  One other possibility is the use of certain eyedrops which could cause lid retraction.  Perhaps you used a certain eyedrop in one eye only and that could have caused the lid retraction.  One final note - that much computer work will make anyone's eyes feel terrible, miserable and very dry, dry, dry.  Take frequent breaks, use frequent lubricating drops, consider no contacts when on computer that much.
Good Luck with your work up.  See an ophthalmologist as soon as possible to try to get some solid answers.

Thank you for your reply,

I have in the past used both - Eyedrops*for dry eyes, aswell as using whitening eye drops. But no longer use them.

Can you suggest any Lubricating eye drops?(wont this problem my eyelid retraction)

I was referred to an eye specialist(same woman)-twice over the past 5 years,But both times i was told-nothing to worry about, its just i have reaction problems with the pupils, thats all?both times given an eye drop in each eye to dilute the pupils.

Ultimately,Is any of these problems solveable, can it be cured?or will it get worse?

*How is this information taken by other local doctors? Is this legit enough,as evidence to suggest certain things. And do i have the right to print this off,to show them?-Reason i ask is,when i attend the eye specialist,i feel as though im wasting her time.

Thank you once again for your help
