Hi i'm 16 yrs old.I never had any eye problems but exactly a year ago, i had conjunctivitis and it took a while to completely go away.since then i've started seeing floaters. It started as a small ring in my left eye but after sometime it slowly got bigger and bigger. Now it has the shape of a long thread and its large.Just 2 weeks ago, i started seeing flashes of light in my left eye.But they are not like lightning bolts. They are little pinpricks that last for half a second. For the last 3-4 days they come only rarely.I'm afraid might be having a PVD.what is more frightening is that i sometimes get a mild pain in my left eye.Its more like a foreign body sensation,a feeling like sand got in your eye.I'm also afraid that i might be having uveitis. Please help !!!!!
Thanks for responding. My flashes are gone but i still have that large floater in my left eye and sometimes an itchy feeling in the same eye.I'll take your advice and see an opthalmologist but i would like to know your opinion on certain things like;- is it "extremely"rare for someone my age to get PVD ? If i do have PVD and it progresses to a retinal detachment, what are my chances of regaining 100% visual acuity ?and lastly, is it normal for me to experience this feeling of sand in my eye ? I never saw this as a symptom of RD in any site so i'm particularly worried about this.Once again thanks.
