Lazik for Lupus patient?

I have lupus and have a heart condition where I take plavix and prednisone along with other meds.  Am I a candidate for this procedure?  I would love to throw away the glasses!  I need them for distance and for reading. If so do you know of any good docs in the ATL area?

Dear Jennifer770,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD in Atlanta to determine whether it is possible for you to undergo laser vision correction.  Autoimmune diseases are contraindications; however, depending upon the disease and its effect on your eyes, doctors may be willing to assist you.  There are many good refractive surgeons in the Atlanta area including Drs. Jonathon Wolfson, Trevor Woodhams, Keith Thompson and George Waring.  If you go to the find an eyeMD on the AAO.org www site, you will be able to find which doctor is closest to you.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to answer my question. I appreciate it very much.  I actually have heard of the Woodhams eye clinic but didn't know they did Lasik.  My Dad has OA and lives in FL.  He was originally told he could not have cataract surgery.  He found a doctor that specializes only in hard cases in eye surgery.  Had the operation and is seeing wonderfully!  I'm not going to doctor shop to get someone to do it, but I do need to find someone, other than my eye doctor, who is not trained to do this type of procedure.
I will keep you posted on my visit.  Again, thank you for taking the time to answer my question and reserch the doctors for me.  I know you must be busy and that was very nice of you.
