I have suffered with postherpetic neuralgia for six and one half years. It has not improved over the last 4 years. The problem is pain, burning, itching and stinging. The problem area starts just below my left eye and goes up through my eyebrow, forehead and through my scalp to about the crown of my head . It is approximately 3" wide from eye to crown. It hurts, stings, burns and itches 24/7 it never stops. I have learned to tolerate it by ignoring it, I try to concentrate on something else. I can do this for awhile, until the effort overcomes me. I have been treated by an Ophthalmologist constantly for the entire six and one half years. I have used most likely every kind of medication you can think of, including Lyrica, Neurotin, Gabrapentin, Tegretol, and several others. I have also tried Accupunture and Infra Red treatments. I have also visited the University of Alabame Medical Center, Eye Clinic, and several local ophthalmologist. The heavy doses of drugs reduced the pain but it left me in a stupor. I am hoping something new has developed over the past few years in the way of treatment other than drugs. If there is anything out there, please let me know. What is your opinion on Hydrogen Peroxide IV treatment for my problem. I have just recently heard about this treatment. I will welcome any informsation concerning my problem. Thank you very much for your time.
