Thyroid conditions are offent associated with eye problems including swelling, redness and protrusion of the eye. Perhaps you should see an endochrinologist to work through that. Read the feature article on this page on dry eyes. Be sue you don't aggravate the condition by sleeping on the side that swells, try sleeping on 2pillows or elevate the head of the bad some. Dont have any air blowing over your face *fan or heating duct".
Good luck.

I have seen an opthalmologist, two - to be exact. The first one said I had dry eyes and that is causing swellng at night, he gave me RePhresh and symptoms still persisted. The following week I went to see a different Opthalmologist and he said I an infection deep in my eye and prescribed me the eye drops and again they didn't do anything to help with swelling. I have NO vision problems just the swollen right eye after sleeping. I am following up with my PCP on Friday. I am not sure if this is acute/subacute Thyroiditis. It's hard to explain and no one seems to have answers.
You have posted many versions of this concern and the possible thyroid problem. You need to see an eye MD ophthalmologist. ALSO using steroid eye drops without a definitive diagnosis especially if an ophthalmologist has not examined and prescribed them is dangerous as there are conditions steroids could make much worse.
