Nevus of Ota and eye problem

Dear Dr. Vosoghi:

I was reading your answers to one posting on nevus of Ota related eye problems and wanted to talk to you. My 5 year old have Nevus of Ota on her left temple, face and eye white. She had it since she was an infant. It did not spread over the years. But 2 or 3 times of each year, she had some eye problem. It normally happened when she was at daycare. After she woke up from her afternoon nap, the eye with Nevus of Ota would be swollen and watery. We took her to an eye doctor and she said it's fine, and might be allergy. Do you think we should be concerned about it? Do you know any doctors in Massachusetts Boston area who is specialized in this field?

Thank you very much in advance!

If your insurance covers it, you may want to take her to one of the pediatric ophthalmologists at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard eye department).  She should probably get a full exam with dilated eye exam 1-2 x each year to make sure no problems arise.  Very important for them to check her optic nerves and if they can get it a pressure to document what it is now in case there are any concerns in the future.
