double vision

had strab surgery in jan. just got my 3 diopter prism not to much improvement would like to go see him now but he says wait till june will he give stronger prism or fine tune surgery they still say they can fix it can it take some time to correct doublevision he is a well qualified adult strab specialist

thank you for your very helpful answer i have dip[opia in one eye when i close other eye none its in my left eye where i have had 5 surgeries for detached retina has left that vision at 5 400 preety poor but have some vision and its double i should have patience but have been going through this for few years this is the only doctor who has tried to fix the diplopia retina surgeon tried to mask it with sceral shells opaquae contact etc. have prisms few weeks could it take longer before see results or due you think some surgery do you think he is waiting till june because its 6 months after surgery and you cannot rush the second surgery in case this place does not work out who would you trcommend as the best adult strab surgeons or diplopia doctors in the country i live in the phila area thank you as cost is not an issue thank you you have been very positive

3 diopters, if correct is actually a pretty small amount of strabismus if you were terribly cross-eyed or with eyes turning out to begin with.  If it was a vertical (up and down) strabismus case, then 3 diopters is very significant.  It is hard to know how well you are doing without knowing where you are coming from.  It sounds like you are in good hands so make sure to keep in touch with your surgeon, build a rapport with him so you feel comfortable asking him these questions.
