Optic nerve dryness

Hiii I m 23 yr old. When I was 16 I was diagnosed with one eye blindness...(dey say I hve 29percent vision in d same eye .... I hve undergone all d test procedures)the doctors said tht it is due to optic nerve dryness since birth... Is there any solution , surgery or Anything I can get it treated???? N  I hve negative power in my other eye how much should I be careful bout it... My parents n even me r very worried ... I hve completed my graduation in dentistry ..n I want to peruse my masters but parents r  concern tht I mite land up damaging the other eye coz of overuse or something ???? Pl help me.....

You can't damage the other eye by "overusing" it for vision purposes.  You need to get checked twice a year by an eye MD/ophthalmologist to be sure the eye stays healthy.  You should also make sure you wear polycarbonate lenses in glasses to protect the good eye.  Stay away from contacts in my opinion and never consider Lasik or refractive surgery.  Take into account that you will likely have decreased depth perception as a result of having one good eye.  There likely is nothing that could be done for the other eye if it was a congenital nerve problem.
