Dear DeeDee2533,
Modern pterygium surgery is usually done without the use of sutures. This results in more comfort for patients after surgery. Eye redness can persist and may take a few weeks to dissipate. Sometimes, watching the procedure makes it seem scarier; however, the use of modern techniques has revolutionized the procedures.
