PVD and exercise

Hi
One week ago I was experiencing flashes and floaters. I went to the Eye Doctor 2 days after the event and it was determined to be PVD. I am a 59 year old male who is considered a well managed Type 2 Diabetic. I feel like I have been given some vague instructions on my activity and have a follow up appointment in 2 plus weeks. I live on an old farm, it is spring time and I have many chores to be done in this season. I am confused to what kind of activity I should avoid. I still walk a hour each day on a treadmill at 3.3 miles an hour. I don't use the incline because I feel it will create tension. I stopped doing my 100 crunches and stopped lifting the hand weights. I believe that my exercise is a big factor in controlling my type2. My meds are Metforman ,500 2x a day.

Can I dig holes for transplanting shrubs? Can I still lift my weights? What kinds of activity should I avoid? I was told not to lift anything over 10 to 20 pounds. Last summer I had cataract surgery in both eyes.

I would sincerely appreciate any Guidance.

Confused

Dear jerry23,

Lifting weights and digging holes for transplanting shrubs is probably more activity than you should be doing for a few weeks. I would recommend that you confirm the specific activities with your eyeMD as you are uncertain.  Clarification by someone that is familiar with your eyes is recommended.

I don't see a reply button on my post. I hope this stays on the thread of PVD and exercise. I did post here because I tried to address this with my Dr Office and kept being told to refer to a print out they gave me that says nothing about my question. The Tech person was a little short when I tried to get more specific answers . That is why I went to the net where I was searching for some  more specific guidance with some clarity. Dr. Feldman, thanks for your reply. I still walk on my treadmill, 3.3 mph , 2x a day. I have this muscles condition where weight lifting eases the pain. I use 5 lb. weights doing reps.
