Pain

I have recently had my third retinal re-attachment surgery in seven weeks. The second surgery was the scleral buckle surgery.  Post surgery I had intense pain in my eye, in my forehead, the back of my head and on my face. Basically pain on the left side of my head where the surgery took place.

Two days prior to my last surgery (vitrectomy with silicone) the pain was beginning to subside. Now two days post this surgery the intense pain and pressure from the buckle surgery has returned and it is now four weeks after that surgery.

Is this normal? I am taking Advil for the pain but am concerned that the pressure and pain is a symptom of nerve damage or something else? How long does the scleral buckle surgical pain last?   My doctor seems mystified that this pain is still there.

No its not normal but does happen. Discuss with your surgeon. You may need something stronger than Advil.
