Posterior Vitreous Detachment - 29 Years

Dear Doc..
I am 29 with high myopia -11 D both eyes. I had a retinal tear about 10 years back in the right eye. Today i was diagnosed with a Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD) in the right eye with no tears. Please explain what complications may lie ahead as i am young and fit otherwise. I read on wikipedia regarding possible 'epiretinal membrane' due to PVD in young high myopes.

How is the flashing of a PVD different from a Migraine Aura.

Is the flashing of a PVD similar to the flashing of a retinal detachment or is similar to shimmering / temporary blindspots of a migraine. Also can a one sided migraine aura keep appearing in the exact same / similar location only time and again. I see shimmering in right eye in right hemisphere near the middle of the 0 degree line.

No one can predict the future.  You need to see your ophthalmologist if you experience and changes in floaters or have flashes.  PVD does not cause headaches.

Also members on the community esp who  were in my position few years back (high myopes detected with PVDs) could guide me on whether their PVDs caused any harm eventually or have they been more or less harmless. Sorry for sounding anxious. I want to live and live with dignity.

Also one more important factor. I have been told by my retina specialist that a PVD would not cause head aches. But i have been having severe one sided headaches (same PVD side) along with flashes. Do you think this is a separate phenomenon like a migraine cause i keep reading on the net that PVD is painless. Or are there any observed cases for painful PVD in young myopes.

The answer to this question would help to understand whether there was any reason for  the PVD other than myopia. I have not had any head injury before.
