Posterior Vitreous Detachment

by jp03, Jan 07, 2008 11:51AM
I was diagnosed with PVD recently. I have a large "floater" over the eye now. No tears or retinal problems at this point. I was told to live with it and things will clear down the road. My dilemma is all the floater issues people seem to have is affected by sunlight or bright lights.  My floater or whatever it is is just the opposite. Outside or in bright light, my obstruction dissappears. Almost like I can see right through it. In the evening or in a dim or dark room. I see the floater as a haze with blotches that actually block out my vision. What is going on here? Is this a floater at all? Also the area where the blockage is turns into a bright lighted area with my eyes closed. Upon opening, i see the floater as a large purplish spotted area. Anyone have similar symptoms? Thanks

Get a second opinion from a retinal specialist Eye MD physician. Find one at www.aao.org Ask him/her about your problem. And be sure it is a floater and not something else.
