Pterygium surgery

Pterygium surgery

I had pterygium surgery 11 days ago, which included removing the pterygium and grafting a new piece of tissue in place. I still have some redness in the area, but what concerns me most is that my pupil is enlarged and my eyesight is still very blurry, is this normal after 11 days?

USe the search feature and archives there are many informative discussions of post pterygium surgery. Ask your surgeon about both problems. DIlated pupil is not a common problem.

I had surgery 7 days ago on my left eye.  My eye lid is still swollen and a bit shut. My eye is very red all around the white and the tissue that was put in my eye is very visable. It almost looks like the tissue was just slapped on the side of my eyeball. It hurts to blink, it matty through out the day and vision is bit blurry.  My doctor gave my Zylet drops and said to go back in 3 weeks.  I did'nt think the healing process was this severe.  I'm emabrassed to be in public looking like this.  Not to mention the headaches I have been getting from the bold pain i get around the eye.

You should call your surgeon's office tomorrow and try and go in for an examination. Likely you have a membrane put on the area where the pterygium was excised; this is usually amniotic membrane.

This is not a quick healing procedure as a review of the posts here will attest.

It has been 21 days I had ptergium auto graft surgery on my left eye and still not healed.  Eye is not fully red anymore, but pink, graft is still visable and is mostly pink in that area. Pain is bold, it hurts to touch  Side of the eye area including eyebrow area. Top eye lid still bit swollen and eye is bit smaller than other eye.  If i strain eye the pain escalades.  My eye is very I mean VERY sensitive to light, wear sunglasses most of the time. Doctor has changed the eyedrops from Zylet to Lotemax. I DO NOT recommend this surgery to anyone unless it is MANDATED unless he/she is a very good surgeon.. Worst feeling ever..............
