Recovery is quicker if the newer "sutureless" equipment is used.  I had the older equipment, and suture inflammation (my sutures were placed by an inexperienced resident) delayed my visual recovery.  It was a couple of months post surgery before I could read the 20/20 line.  Vision continues to improve (in terms of reduced distortion) for about a year post surgery.  Unfortunately, cataract development may interfere with visual recovery.  I noticed the early signs of a cataract less than three months after surgery.
