pain in 1 eye

My 2 year old son started blinking excessively and squinting about 2 months ago (no rubbing, itching, redness or sweliing).  Pediatrician found nothing wrong and prescribed Pataday drop for possible allergies.  Seemed to get better for a couple weeks, then he developed a random fever with no other symptoms.  Ped assumed the fever was unrelated to eye probs, advised to treat fever with OTC meds.  3 days into fever, my son started complaining that his left eye hurt.  Ped said it was probably a headache from virus that had caused fever and suggested to continue treating w/ OTC's.  My son has some days where he doesn't seem to have an problems, then will have numerous days in a row when he complains of pain and squints.
We have an appt w/ a pediatric opthomologist in 2 weeks and I want to know what to ask him and what the doc needs to do.
Thanks in advance.

Just a few thoughts:  it's great that you're seeing a pediatric ophthalmologist.  Good Job.  Try to keep a journal of symptoms and record all the medications including drops that son has taken so far.  Also, if child doesn't do it all the time - consider taking a video of it to show doctor (in case child doesn't do it in office.)  Basically let doctor do complete exam to make sure child doesn't need glasses and doesn't have any diseases.  Then  when you get to blinking part - just see what doctor says.  It might just be a small habit that child started and will outgrow or could be related to some real eye irritation or other situation.  Good Luck.  Post back what the doctor finds.
