Starburst and floaters

Hi. I have been wearing contacts for about 2 and a half years now with a prescription of -2 and mild astigmatism. A few months ago i started to notice a starburst type effect around bright light sources eg car headlights and street lights. I also get streaking of the light when i blink. In addition to this i also have a few floaters but i don't know if these are of any significance. My visiual acuity doesn't seemed to have changed and my prescription has been stable for many years now.
I had these symptoms checked out as they were becoming quite annoying and apart from some dry eye i was told everything looked normal.
Is this something i should have investigated further?

Only an examination by an Eye MD and perhaps the passage of time can answer that question. A frequent reason for people having LASIK in our large practice is their contacts start to bother them and they have to stop wearing them.

The percent of people wearing contact lens starts to diminish after mid 20s and goes down, down down especially after age 40.

If it is the conatct lens causing the problem will it return to normal with time or will i have to stop wearing lens

If you did not see a Doctor of Medicine (MD) ophthalmologist for your recent examination you need to do so. An exam by a non-physician, limited scope eyecare provider (optometrist) is not the same type of examination.

In terms of frequency one of the most common causes of your problem would be the contact lens causing swelling or bending (irregular astigmatism) of the cornea.
