Strange filmy sensation and loss of vision in low light

I am a 24 year old female. For some time now I have noted a very odd sensation in my right eye after turning off lights or going from a bright space into a darkened room. The eye feels odd, oily and larger than my other eye coupled with an almost total loss of vision for that eye, not at all painful but irritating and disconcerting. The past few weeks, however, I have become aware that this is becoming an all day, every day thing. Regardless of light my eye feels filmy and my vision blurred. I will be going to an optometrist as soon as possible, still I would very much like to go into my appointment with some idea as to what is happening to my eye. So there you have it, my question is what on earth do these symptoms indicate?

You need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist physician for your problem NOT a non-MD, non-physician optometrist. Find one near you at www.aao.org

How is your color perception of the blurry eye?  It would be a good idea to test yourself with a specific color, preferrably bright red.  I have used a spice jar top which is usually that bright red.  Test each eye separately, closing one then the other.  If the brightness and color are the same for both eyes, that is usually a good sign.  If the blurry eye also has a less bright picture from the red object, that can be an indicator of cataract or some other eye issue.  Good information for you to have when you see your eye doctor.  Russell903
