Dear valentine214,
The right time to have a pterygium removed is if it is growing towards the visual axis, and causing symptoms, such as irregular astigmatism, and/or dryness of the front surface. Since the pterygium causes scarring of the cornea, it is important to not let it progress too much before surgical removal.

If possible could you please advise me when the best time to have a progressive ptergium removed?? I have them in both eyes but my left is worse than my right...i was told that if i have it removed there is chance of vision loss...is this true??? Also, i was advised to take Antioxidants with A,C and E. to help with keeping eye moist and slow down the growth is this true. Thank you for your medical advise.... Does the ptergium stop growing in your eye at a certain point??? Should i leave well enough alone???
