Occlusion therapy for astigmatism?

Greeting everyone,
my 4 years old son was diagnosed eith myopia and astigmatism, more severe on the left eye.
With eyeglasses he got occlusion therapy as adjuvant.
He should close one eye for a whole day, and the other eye the next day.
I have two questions, is it a good threatment for astigmatism and is it good for brain development and bilateral vision.
Thank you.

Occlusion therapy or atropine drops are standard therapy for amblyopia (lazy eye).  I would recommend that your child be under the care of a pediatric ophthalmologist, as the recommendations for occlusion therapy have changed recently as the result of new studies.  Occlusion therapy of the strong eye helps the weaker eye develop normal vision.

Thank you for fast response.
I am aware that occlusion is right therapy for amblyopia, i'm just checking if it's right treatment for astigmatism, and if it is - should it be a whole day long.
