Vertical Ghosting

Within the past 2 months I have had vertical ghosting with objects of high contrast against light backgrounds and even ghosting with solid objects like around people heads and around the edges of high contrast objects most noticable at a distance.  I have seen an optometrist who prescribed me glasses, and optamologist who did a complete eye exam and said all looked normal, and een a neuro-optamologist and MRI with all normal results.  The glasses do make my vision clearer however they do not get rid of the ghosting.  I am out of options and really confused as to what could be causing these symptoms.  The only thing that gets rid of the ghosting is if i just slightly angle my eyes upwards and the image merges perfectly.  when i view something directly straight ahead the ghosting is present.  The ghosting is present with both eyes used separtely and also when i use both eyes together.  Any info or anyone with similar situation greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear everything is ok.  Are your hard contacts the RGP type and also have the Drs suggested any causes for the ghosting even though your tests have come back normal?

I have had other issues since my surgery so I went to a neuro and he ordered a MRI/MRA scan he was checking for MS and blood clot in the brain due to other issues besides vision.. All was normal I am thankful just wish I felt good again that foot surgery messed my life up!

Yeah cornea shape can cause ghost images from what i understand.  And it the cornea is really misshaped then it can cause distorted imges that arent correctable with glasses or contacts from what i understand.  Keretoconus is a corneal disease that shows signs of what i have but after being to a few eye doctors and everything checking out to be ok its mind boggling as to what could be causing this.  Unless it is keretoconus and maybe its in the very early stages when they cant pick it up yet???

No all my test look great! I really have no idea as to why soft contacts unless its the way my cornea is shaped or what? Said soft contacts would not reslove ghost issues..

Any idea as to why the hard contacts work for the ghosting?  Hve you been diagnosed with anything at all or did they just say that hard contacts are the answer to the problem?

I have not bee told I have that they just say my eyes lok great! And yes same issues. I hope when I get this contact it works. Just worried it will irritate my eye badly we shall see.. Ask your eye dr if you can try this and see if it helps. You will be able to tell during the fitting they do..

Hi its good to hear from someone who has had the same issues as i had.  Its the craziest thing mine came out of nowhere and it is a major annoyance now.  Do you have keretoconus or have you had a cornea scan at all.  I know that hard contacts can be a sign of have keretoconus.  I havent been checked for that disease but I hear that it is rare and also that it usually starts in teen years.  When i look up my ghosting disappears which is odd and I am not sure how to explain it.  My glasses definitely do highlight this issue though.  I hae had an eye exam from an optamologist and and optomotrist and i would think that if there was something wrong with my cornea they would have seen it.  Is this anything similar to your symptoms?

Hey I as well have the ghosting imaging issue. I have had an MRI/MRA CT Scans etc. I have been to an Opthomologist and he says all is ormal for me as well. Funny thing for me is I never had this issue until after I had fot surgery go figure! They loaded me up on to much ansthesia and pain meds this was an out patient procedure. I have been dealing with the ghosting image foralmost a yr glasses do not help at all its in both eyes.. I hardly have much prescription in the glasses..

So with all this said here is the solution I am trying. I went last week and got fitted for a hard contact lens when they looked at my eyes they fitted me with one and bam the ghosting was gon even though this lens isnt the correct lens it worked. So I am hoping my lens will be here tomorrow. I am only getting one lens for my right eye..Maybe this will help guide you not sure.. I am hoping my issue will be resolved I was told soft contact lenses would no work for this issue... Oh and I hav had  eye exams in a years time!!
