What got wrong?

I hope I get some answer to this, though it is Christmas time. I read a lot about eye problems and RD, but I couldn't understand some things, so to understand my symptoms.
I have never visited an eye doctor, but I will visit at the end of january. I am 24, female. For many years, since 17 or 18 years old, my distant sight started blurring, but I've thought that even seeing distant objects blurred I'd never wear glasses, so I never visited a doctor. Slowly it was getting worse. I couldn't see the scripts in the cinema from middle rows, until now I can't see 0,3 mm letters from 1 meter or a movie with scripts on the TV at all. However this isn't my problem, I'm used to not seeing distant objects at all. One more thing is that since 18 years old I'm spending like 10 to 12 hours every day in front of the computer - I'm a graphic designer. And usually when I start a project I don't move for hours from the screen.
The thing is that 6 months ago I started seeing flashes for the first time in my life. I would call them more sparkles rather than flashes. I see them with both eyes in different locations. It is as i am watching - a sparkle sparks for a second and goes away and that's it. This happened 6 months ago like five times a week for a month. Then it stopped. Now a few days ago for a day or two I saw several sparkles again and it stopped. I got very worried as I read about RD.
Could this have something with it? Could this be the case?
I know that it is impossible to say through the internet, but I want to hear from a doctor until I go to get checked at the end of january because I got very worried.
One more thing that changed is that from some time, again like half an year ago - before if I used to close my eyes a bit and try to focus and I could see and focus things in the distance, but now I can't focus anymore.
Can you please tell me what could all this be?

Dear SunshineLilly,

I would recommend that you seek immediate care to determine the cause of your sparkles. A complete eye examination is indicated in light of your symptoms.
