Why don't my prescribed contacts improve my vision?

Just recently learned I need corrective lenses. I am very interested in wearing contact lenses, however the Rx the doc gave me made my vision worse than not wearing corrective lenses at all. Wearing my new glasses improves my eyesight, but I would much prefer the contacts. I had no issues whatsoever putting contacts in, taking them out, nor did they bother me in the least, when they were in (other than blurry vision). Is there anything I can do so that I can wear contacts? GP? Different Brand? HELP!
My Rx is as follows.
Glasses:
SRX    SPH   CYL   Axis   ADD   Prism/Base
OD     +.75   -.25   070
OS     +.25   sph     -

Contacts:
CLRS   SPH   CYL   Axis   BC   Dia
OD     +.75   SpH    -      8.4   14.2
OS     +.50   SpH    -      8.4   14.2

Prescribed Brand- Sofmed Breathables

Everybody is different and I'm not even familiar with all the different brand names.  Accuvue II and Oasis lenses have worked well for me personally but that is far from a medical recommendation just personal experience.  You also have to be checked and make sure the contact lens is fitting well in your eye.  If you don't feel you are making progress, you may want to get a second opinion and CTL fitting from another lens specialist.

I have been prescribed Ciba multifocal contact lenses. Going in with an open mind. Hopefully, these will do the trick.

Doc- I wore the contacts for a few days hoping that my vision would be as good as it is with my glasses. Unfortunately- no such luck. Based on my Rx, what brand or type of contacts would you recommend?
Thanks,
TimF

I would try a different brand and see how you do.  Also, give the contacts at least an hour for your eye to get used to them before you judge the vision.
