X-Ray Radiation And The Effects It May Have On The Eye

If radiation from lets say a dental x-ray or any kind of x-ray was to come into contact with the eye can it damage the eye in anyway? and could the radiation have an effect on the eyes color by causing the eye color to darken or maybe even turn lighter ,basically could radiation if in contact with the eye contribute to any kind of color change? all so why do you think a Dentist does not issue any kind of protection for a patient when conducting a bitewing dental X-Ray? is there not a danger of any radiation entering the eye during the X-Ray?

the reason i am asking these questions is because i am doing research on X-Ray radiation and the effects it may have on the eye and on the eyes color

thank you

Regular X-rays done at the dentist aren't strong enough to have any significant effect on the eyes to my knowledge.  Stronger sources of radiation could however have significant effects.
