dizzy-passing out

I have a 15 year old son who has been experiencing "spells" which consist of...first hearing a ringing sound-then his vision will go black from the outside inward-then he will either black out or have a slight headache.  This can happen as a few times a day to once every couple of days.  He has completly blacked out three times but usually said he will support himself on the wall or something so he doesn't fall.  The doctors have done two EKG's and said his heart is fine and there are no irregular heartbeats which sometimes can cause this.

He was diagnosed last year with Exophoria...could this be linked?

Thank you again and my son wasn't the one who posted earlier but I will chekc out that posting as well as research those items you suggested.  His pediatrician asked us to log them and increase water because it might be dehydration but that does not seem to be it either.

thanks again!

Hmmm I wonder if you son posted here also?  Look at a posting today about "orthostatic hypotension". Exophoria wold not cause this problem. That just means a tendency for the eyes to turn out but controled by the fusion centers in the brain. It's not normally a big problem usless the eyes go out a lot (often and turn way out).  Also use an internet search engine to learn more about "orthostatic hypotension).

The ringing in the ears however is not normal and is NOT part of orthostatic hypotension. I would suggest seeing a neurologist to rule out atypical seizure, migraine equivalents and abnormalities of the blood vessels of the brain (AV malformations, A-V fistula, etc)

I would keep digging a little further on his problem. The ringing sound is not typical.
