Can a camera light damage your eye?

I tried to take a photo of my right eye point blank, and the flash went off right in front of my eye. For some reason I still tried to hold my eye open even when it went off. My eye doesn't hurt, and it didn't hurt when the light went off. I just kept seeing a bright flash for about a minute then it went away. I just want to know if this could have cause ANY damage? It's really bugging me right now

Are you sure? Even though it was at point blank range?

No worries. A quick exposure to bright light will cause a temporary bright or blank spot in your vision, but will not damage your eyes.
