are very large floaters a problem?

Dear maxkipling,

If you have a sudden increase in the no. of floaters, you should have an eye  examination by an eyeMD.

Sometimes yes it can be sign of a very serious problem, sometimes no.  It is absolutely essentially that you see an ophthalmologist to make sure you are not having a retinal tear or detachment or a vitreous hemorrhage.
