treatments evaluation

I´d like to have your opinion about different treatments for chlamydial eye infection. Treatments are Doxycycline 100mg, Azythromycin 1g, Erythromycin ointment, Chlortetracycline ointment and Azythromycin drops.
Could you please evaluate them using different criteria such as efficacy againts chlamydia, tissue penetration, duration of treatment, side effects?
Condition is unilateral chlamydial conjunctivitis for more than 6 months causing eye tearing, corneal infiltrates, meibomitis, dry eye. WBC is quite below the normal range with may contribute to make the condition persistent.
Thanks in advance

Yes. A single one gram dose is effective.

Any of those treatments sound reasonable. I have always used Azythromycin as the compliance is much more acceptable (easier to take). The usual dose is 1g once. The other important thing to remember is that chlamydia may be associated with other conditions some of which are sexually transmitted such as gonorhea. You and any of your sexual partners need to be evaluated for these conditions. The remaining eyelid conditions which you mentioned can be treated with eye drops, ointments and hot compresses. You should definitely visit with an Eye MD.

is a single dose of azythromycin sufficient to get rid of chlamydia completely, given the fact that the infection persists for so many months? would you extend the treatment to prevent resistance and reinfection? no other conditions are associated.

azythromycin is contraindicated in patients with common cold caused by virus?
