wrong power lens implant? (rephased)

wrong power lens implant? (rephased)

First of all thank you for your quick repley, but I phased my question wrong, please allow me to
start over.

1. I only need eye glasses for the distance to drive .

2. I had macular pucker surgery left eye, results; clearer vision but still the distortion, a year later
then the cataract, I was told this would happen from the macular pucker surgery again left eye only.

3. Then I had the cataract surgery , results; everything is a size bigger , a nickel is now the size of a
quarter and so on, I know I still have left eye distortion but the size was alway the same as my right
eye, which all has been purfect. The Drs. tell me my eye is still swollen from surgery ( 9 mos ago) I was
putting Rx eye drops in and nothing changed, also the Dr. gave me a shot in my upper eye lid, painfull,
and then wanted to put a shot in my eye, no no.  I still believe the lens power is wrong, I know my own eye!
How can I prove this, is it too late to change the lens?  I can't stand this any longer it is very dufficult to do
    my job, computer accounting.

Thank You!

If you wear the proper glasses precription and there is still a size discrepancy between the eyes, then that is very suggestive of a disorder of the macular OR a major imbalance between the refraction between the two eyes. I can't tell you which it is BUT if you are getting steroid injections, that points toward possible macular edema.  It sounds like your retinal specialist is trying hard to improve your vision.  Ask your cataract surgeon if there is a problem with the implant power.

Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to have good acuity yet some distortion and an image size difference following surgery for a macular pucker.  You may have the same condition that I do--retinally-induced aniseikonia.  It is often associated with other symptoms, such as headaches, double vision, spatial disorientation, and excessive tearing.  It's thought to be caused by a change in the photoreceptor distribution in the macula, either from residual damage from the pucker or possibly from the surgery to remove it.

It's been my experience that it's extremely difficult to find a knowledgeable eye care professional who can treat this condition.  There's a lot of good information about symptoms and treatment at opticaldiagnostics dot com.  There's also an aniseikonia support group on yahoo.
