Hi.
I have had a lump behind my left ear for a very long time. for as long as I can remember. Im 21 and have had it for more then 4 or 5 years.... maybe even 10 years... I dont remember it NOT being there, ive always assumed it was a swollen lymph node but I have been reading more about it, and seems as though the swollen lymph nodes go away. IS it possible for a lymph node to permanatly stay there. its about the size of a pea and has never bothered me or hurt. its also soft and dosent hurt to play with. Please let me know what you think.
From what it sounds, seems perfectly normal. I wouldn't worry unless you notice changes and/or develope other symptoms.
We all have these and sometimes they enlarge in trying to fight off an infection.
As was mentioned, an Ear Nose and Throat doctor would be a good choice of doctor to visit if you are truly concerned. However, from the sounds of it, nothing to worry about.
I can also feel these lymph nodes under my skin. They are small and can be moved. I have no other symptoms and was wondering if this is normal?
It is difficult to say without examination. Lymph nodes of varying sizes may be felt under the skin - depending on your body habitus as well.
If the lump persists, you can consider a referral to an ENT physician or surgeon. A blood count can be considered to help evaluate for any lymphoma.
The definitive test would be a biopsy of the lymph node. This option can be discussed with your personal physician.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
