I had not heard of an ultrasound after the IUI before, so i was shocked that my RE did that! but glad he did too! They told me that might be why we weren't getting preg ! !! (ha ha i have like ten other reasons, so i really wasnt' looking for more reasons, but hey at least we are trying to fix them all!) otherwise they said test in 14 days after IUI GOOD LUCK hopefully you won't need that ovidrel refill! : )
Is it typical to do a follicle followup? I did my trigger on a Wed w/ monitoring and blood test then Thurs IUI. They said call when you get AF or a BFP. Curious other experiences. We only get 1 more IUI after this. I want to be prepared with questions. She has me already set for an Ovidrel refill if necessary.
I am taking femara. I think femara mostrly gives only 1 folli. I am asking them to add something to get more follis.
U bet...i never imagined that getting pregnant would be so tough.
Yea i was thinking the same thing! I am on femara (last month was my first medicated cycle) and i only had one follie and well it didn't release so i had no back up follies! It looked like my "bad" ovary was starting to try to function so i'm hoping I can get at least one follie on each side this month (i'll find out wednesday!) What are you taking? clomid/femara?? Its a fine line though, if i overstim then they will cancel the cycle! who knew it would all be so complicated! geez! Well maybe they are wanting the HCG to stay in your system longer for some reason (they say it does more so with the novarel)! I hope this is what it takes!!! Where are you on your cycle?? GOOD LUCK! : )
Thanks for the detailed info bny807. Hoping this change will do the magic, but in my case i was ovulating with Ovidrel too...so dont know why this change in the protocol instead of looking at something else. Additionally I have been asked to come in on CD10 instead of CD12 for US coz my folli grows to 28-29mmm by CD12.
I asked them if I can get more follis instead of just one each cycle to improve my chances....and the nurse said she will have to run that past the doc...
See this is what bugs me...why should i be giving them ideas...shouldn't they be thinking about all this themselves.
Hello! I used ovidrel last month ( they did a post ovulation ultrasound-24hours aftter the IUI and apparently the trigger didn't work, the follie hadn't ruptured ) so this month they switched me to Novarel ---- My RE says that its "stronger" and will stay in your system longer.. Which they also said will help with the elevated LH in PCOS during the tww. I couldn't find the name brand Novarel around here, but they said the generic is just as good, its 10,000 units of HCG and it was $57, I think they said Novarel brand name was $68 so both are cheaper than the ovidrel was for me. Also the Ovidrel is SubQ, and the Novarel is IM (intramuscular) and you also have to mix it up, so i had to pay for syringes as well, but hopefuly the RE will be doing all of that! Hopefully the Novarel will work for us this week, I hsould know by friday! GOOD LUCK with you and keep us updated! : )
HAHA!! That is funny....I am cracking up sitting in my office imagining this....
Imagine the hamster preggos running aways seeing a fertility medicine makers is approching her to make ovidrel. On the other had another medicine maker is hiding in the toilet to collect unie of any preggo woman coming in.....
No offence to any profession please...just kidding!!
But in a way novodrel should be better since it is from a uman body...right? even though they do the same thin...release an egg from a mature follicle
Yea Ovidrel is made from Chinese Hamster oocytes (or something). Thought it was funny. More natural ones are made from pregnant women urine. Nice, huh?
What about pregnant Chinese Hamsters standing in line to give their urine? Now that's an image.
Do u know how much novarel cost? I see there is a generic available for it too...is it fine to use the generic?
I didn't have any side effects. Can't remember the cost but don't think it was too much.
I used both. Was told that Novarel was a natural substance and ovidrel was not. Ovidrel is in a single use syringe and novarel you have to mix with solution and put into syringe. Ovidrel is easier to use but they both do the same thing which is to trigger ovulation.
Does it release ur follicle each time? how long have you been using it? What is the doseage? How much does it cost? Any side effects?
i never used ovidrel, but used novarel to release the follicle, sounds like the same thing.
Thanks alikat. Is it any better than ovidrel?? I mean ovidrel is just to release the follicle right...which was happening in my case...does this medicine do anything different?
