Overstimulated Ovary....

Hi Ladies,

I am just looking for some guidance on what I found out today.  I have been having pains in my lower right abdomen.  I was on Clomid the last 2 cycles 50 mgs. days 5-9.  My doctor called me in to the office today and I had a pelvic.  Then they wanted to do a vaginal ultrasound, so they did one.  I could see my ovaries and the follicles in there.  She said my lining looked really good and there were a few follicles in each ovary, except for my right one, where all the pain was... there was a huge follicle!! It had been overstimlated by the Clomid.  Has anyone been through this? She said it wasn't very common.....

This month I am out trying, and she said I need to wait for another period and to try again after that.  They were going to put off putting me on Clomid until a month or two.  They want to do another check a couple weeks after I have my period again.  

How many follicles are good, and what is an HCG shot?  They said that this next cycle they might have me come in a few weeks after my period starts to do the ultrasound and see how big the follicles are, and then give me the shot.  
Can someone help explain this to me?

The shot will just induce ovulation (usually occurs around 36h later).  They will measure your follies and give it when at least one dominant one is probably around 18mm-22mm.  The more mature follies you have the better chance they will be released at ovulation and the better chances of any pregnancy occurring (but you can end up with multiples so it is best that they monitor you by u/s).  Best of luck!
