Secondary estrogen surge

I am so nervous that I might actually finally be pregnant. My cycle has been regular since January. In July I noticed a change in cervial mucous around the time of ovulation, so we had sex. Then about a week later there was another change in mucous. I read on another site that the second change after ovulation could have been a secondary estorgen surge.
I wonder if anyone else has noticed this secondary surge. Could if be a sign that I conceived? It seems odd to me that there would be a secondary surge if at least the egg was fertilized? The same day as this second surge I also had some cramping. Well now I am late and wonder if this means I might be pregnant? Any advice would be great!
