Side effects of X-rays on fertility

Hello,

I've heard that exposure to radiation will kill or damage sperms and eggs.  I've done a full body x-rays examinations two weeks ago.  I was advised that not to try conceiving until 3 months later, as afraid the damaged eggs would not be perfect eggs for healthy baby.  Is that true?

Also, the strong radiations might cause lower chance of fertility or even infertility, is that true as well?

Thanks to clear my doubts as I'm planning to have baby soonest.

yes high doses of radiation can damage eggs (it actually damages the dna inside of the eggs).  I'm not sure how strong your doses were but I assume your doctors took all the precautions.  And just because you had xrays does not mean that your eggs are definitely damaged.  The ovaries are well protected inside your pelvis.  If your eggs are damaged or low quality you may end up with miscarriages.  I would listen to your doctors and wait the three months before trying.
