laparoscopy

i had my HSG done today and my gyno found scar tissue ( adhesions) on my pelvix.  i now need to have a laparoscopy done ( which my insurance will cover).  just wondering what others have experienced with this and were you able to get pregnant after or still had to do iui's.   i read online that the laparoscopy has to be done around ovulation.  is this correct?  also how soon to u recover after one is done?  is it outpatient or did yu stay in the hospital a day?   thanks for any comments!

Hello!  I had my lap a little over a month ago now and as far as surgery goes its pretty easy recovery!  just uncomfortable feeling really, back to normal in less than a week!  I had a cyst and then they diagnosed me with endometriosis! ugh!  they cleaned up as much as they could (but werne't able to do too much!) this is our first month ttc since the lap (we scheduled our first visit with an RE as soon as we got the news) and he has been great, trying to be as aggressive as possible before the scar tissue or endo comes back or gets worse!  as far as the lap having to be around O time thats news for me, i've never heard of that, but just not sure!   Good luck! and there are a lot of people that i've heard that get preg soon after their laps! typically if they remove the scar tissue your chances are the greatest for the first 6 months after the lap! GOOD LUCK! keep us updated!

I also had a lap, about 4 months ago, due to scar tissue from a myomectomy (large fibroid removed via full c-section).  It really wasn't that big of a deal.  Bloating and feeling uncomfortable for a few days.  Only took the pain pills for a couple of days post op.  It was outpatient, and was home in bed within 3 hours.  Compared to my other procedures, it was soo easy.  Still not pregnant, still don't know why, but we're still trying.

I had a lap done few months ago also due to scar tissue.  The surgery itself was pretty minor and I was back to normal in about 4-5 days.  I am still ttc and will be doing my first ivf in a few weeks.  Obviously, the lap did not solve all of my infertility problems and ivf is the only way around my scar tissue that covers both of my ovaries due to an old surgical scar.  The problem with scar tissue is that it grows back within weeks.  You will have about 3 months after the lap and then the scar tissue will be back since at least in my case the old surgical scar is still there.  Scar tissue due to endo may be different, I am not quite sure.
So, you should really ask your doc about scar tissue coming back in your particular case and be as aggressive as possible after the lap trying to get pregnant since the window may be quite small.
Good luck to you!
