What other tests can I do?

Ok, so I just want to see if there is something that my doctor is missing. I've done an u/s to make sure everything looks good. I had Day 3 labs done to check progesterone and all that. I've had an HSG to check to make sure my tubes are clear and now I'm going for a laprascopy to check to make sure I don't have endo or scar tissue. Is there any other tests that I can do to see what is going wrong? My husband is not even a factor because he had a vasectomy years and years ago and we are using a donor and the numbers have been great with them. Any suggestions on where to go from here if lap comes out fine?? I don't know what else to ask the doc for.

Yes, We've been doing IUI with clomid for 6 months now. After the laparoscopy we are going to try a couple more cycles with injectibles. I realize that IVF we could use my husband's sperm but my insurance doesn't cover any of it and we were hoping that IUI would be cheaper.

Dear nevaeh222-

I believe that there is no need for further testing. How long have you been trying to get pregnant with donor sperm? The chances each month are a little less than 20%. Have you tried at least six cycles? If less than 6 cycles, you just may not have tried long enough. Also, are you using intrauterine or intracervical insemination - success is better with intrauterine.

If the laparoscopy is normal, the decisions you and your doctor need to make are to either:

1) Continue to try with inseminations for a few more months (but not more than 12 months total)

2) Add fertility drugs to the insemination, and make sure you are getting IUI

Finally, are you aware that you and your partner could do IVF? Since your partner is still producing sperm in his testicular tissue, there are procedures where we can obtain sperm from the testicular tissue and use the sperm to fertilize your eggs in the IVF lab.

Are you still seeing a Gyn or have you moved on to an RE?  My Gyn did all of these tests and then referred me to an RE to do more.  Have you done prolactin and thyroid blood tests or the insuln resistance test?

Sounds like you've had a good work up!  How about labs after Ovulation, progesterone post-O... My dr did an ultrasound after O last month and turns out i wasn't releasing the egg (follie wasn't rupturing) but thats pretty rare!   Good luck with it all and keep us updated!

blood testing for protein c and/or s deficiency, antithrombin antibodies, hysteroscopy to check for polyps (don't show on ultrasound), thyroid testing.
