I just did my first IUI yesterday.  It was easy.  We did a sperm wash with the IUI, I dont know if that is for everybody or just for DH who's little guys are not up to par.  So I put sperm wash (body temp) in cup then my dh did his deed.  Put it under my armpit to keep it warm.  About 1 hr after I got to the dr. (they had to put sperm into a spinner)  They did the IUI.  It was like getting a pap smear but faster.  Today I have some cramps, spotting, bloating, and nausea.  Not sure what that is.  Well that was my experience.  I hope it goes well for you.  I am using clomid 50mg CD 5-9.  Did clomid w/ BD in Dec, and Feb. maybe even NOV too cant remember but that obviously didnt work so we went on to IUI.  I only wanted to do 3 mo.of clomid w/ bd cause i dont want to waste anymore time.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Everyone gets a sperm wash for the best chances and to eliminate prostiglandins, which will cause the uterus to contract to get the 'irritant' out of the system.

about to head to our first IUI, so I hope that we can be a success story!   We just dropped off the cup two hours before my IUI then I go back and they perform the test! We have lots of issues against us, but sure hope it works!!! Good luck with your HSG! Keep us updated!

thanks for your comments.  so how long after the iui can you test for pregnancy?  is it just like waiting for a missed peroid?  my husbands sperm travel in the wrong direction.,only 40 percent get where they need to be.  its so expensive so i was hoping maybe it would work the first time.   so can my husband can do his deed at home and take to the RE?  or does it need to be done there?  thanks!  and best of luck to you both!

They say wait 14 days after the IUI (I had a hcg trigger injection so if I tested too early it could be positive from that ) But i know its going to be so hard to wait that long!!!  My husband had 38%motile and only 2% morphology, so thats really really low chances for us! BUT today he had a lot of fast swimmers! 57million after the wash, i was shocked!!!  but they didn't test morphology, so lots of those might have been swimming in circles! He did the deed at home and then the RE office is only 15 minutes away, but they say it can be up to an hour, so i imagine if yall can get it there within the hour you can do it whereever??  GOOD LUCK TO YOU TOO!! : )
