We picked a donor
I am sooooo excited!!! I just got off the phone with the drs office. Tim and I picked a donor couple and the embryos are still available. AND, the best news, 2 of them are grade 1!!!! I really didn't expect to get any grade 1 at all. Since, these are "left overs", the best are usually all gone. The other 2 are grade 2. I am so happy with that. She was going to the lab to pull the full fact sheets on the embryos and donors and call me back. I should be nearing cd1 in the next day or so. I think we could be looking at tranfer in as little as 2wks!!
It is much less. They quoted us around $25,000 for donor eggs(including meds and everything) The donor embryos are $3500-$4000 for everything. That helps us a lot. If we did IVF, we'd only get one shot at it. With the embryos, we can try a few times if needed. Hopefully, once is all it takes ;c)
I was thinking of using donor eggs or embryos. Is this just as expensive as IVF?

The drs office mailed us about 15 profiles. Quite a few got scratched because there was only 1 embryo available. Then there were a couple that were different ethnic backgrounds. From there, I mainly looked for males that most resembled Tim. I think it is more important to him than me. Then family medical history.
The profiles show how the age, weight, height, ethnic background, hair color, eye color, skin tone, occupation, education, marital status, etc. Then you get the medical history for the mother, father, and both sets of grandparents as well as siblings.
They get new profiles in about every 2wks they said.

Wow, it's been just over a year since we have talked! Nov 13! How the heck have you been? I take it the first round with the donor didn't take in Feb? Geeze, I was hoping to see that you had a baby when I saw your name on the thread. I hope you get one from this cycle Yvette.
Yeah, Tim and I just weren't gettin' 'er done, as they say, lol. More like I wasn't. We were going to use donor eggs. But, the $$ was too great. The dr suggested the embryos since they have them there he said it would be really quick compared to IVF. I thought about it for a few mins and couldn't believe it was that easy and inexpensive. I ran it by Tim and he is fine with the idea. The male donor has Tim's eye and hair color. Is very close to his height and skin tone. The woman is a bit shorter than me (I'm 5'10")green instead of blue eyes and blonde instead of brown hair. Not a great match, but great embryos. There isn't that great of a difference though. I just wish it was test day already. It's been so many years of ttc, I am ready to pi$$ or get of the pot, he he he.
Are you just popping in to say hi or sticking around for a while? I hope the latter :) I have missed you. A lot of the other ladies you know can be found on the pregnancy 35+ forum. Quite a few moved over there after they conceived.

Thanks ladies! I just can't wait now. It's really like being a kid at Christmas again! I really hope they can do it this cycle. I should know soon. I just pray hard for super sticky beans. Geeze, I have been at this madness for so long. I feel like I'm really building up for a big fall. I pray, I pray it works.

Hi Tina! Not sure if you remember me...it's been a while since i've posted on this forum. I sort of got fed up with everything for a while. Were using a donor ourselves (donor eggs). I am so happy to read you are trying with donor embryos! When will you be doing this? When is it going to happen? Congratulations! Keep me posted.
PS Our donor just started taking ovarian stim drugs - today is her 11th day. I think she might trigger shot tomorrow and they will do retrieval two days later.
