Where should I go??

I am moving from Illinois to anywhere U.S.A.  I suffer from Fibromyalgia and degenerative bone disease and spend about every day in pain... I have gastritis and cannot take any "ibuprofen type medicine" I am dual diagnosed with ADD and Manic Depression as well.  I am currently using Fentanyl patches, Norco, valium, Adderall, omeprazole, dycyclamine,  and celexa... I may be forgetting something??  UGH!  I refuse to add any more medicine, and have no attachment to any particular state.  I want to move A.S.A.P. to somewhere that would not be so painful...  I hear San Diego and Hawaii are best... sadly, I can afford neither!  I am considering Pueblo Colorado because of it's 300 "they say" days of sunshine and the low barometric pressure.. which is what I hear we need to change as little as possible for us to be comfortable.  It's coldest day was 44 degrees... and I know I cannot handle extreme cold... or extreme hot... Please help me!!  I need to pay a rent of about $600 a month and have dogs... does anyone live in Pueblo CO?  Does anyone have a better suggestion.  I want to move in the next 4 weeks.  My job enables me to work anywhere in the U.S. with no change of income!!  PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I know just how you feel. I have thought of moving myself. Trouble is I have enough to live on month to month, just not enough to move my furniture. I live in NW Indiana and this last winter and this spring has been rough on me. I have fibro and degenertive disc and also have Hepatitis C. I am hoping to treat for the hep soon, there is new drugs out now and in the fall. But like The LightSeeker says it is not as always greener and the grass still has to be cut. So True. IT takes a lot of research and I think it would be best to visit an area first.

I wasn't finished with my reply and it...submitted.

Well, I just wanted to add that, after you talk with your doctor and pharmacist,if you want, let me know what they suggested-don't put your expectations too high!- perhaps I can give you some natural & preventive  suggestions, to help you with your pain management.

Best wishes with your moving and God Bless!

Niko

Hi Michelle.

I don't know why you couldn't see your response after you submitted,
however, what matters is that I can read it.

If you do a search for "drug interaction checker" you will get many sites
which offer this.
It will enable you to see exactly what you'e facing, in terms of your drugs interacting adversely between them.
I had done a check for a friend of mine, who unfortunately is on 12 different
meds, and I recognized 3 that  are the same with yours, with major interactions between them!
I suspect some of the newer drugs prescribed, where for interactions and side effects from some of the original drugs! Go figure.

You are blessed to have understanding employers and I'm sure you're also good at what you do, as a career. It works both ways.

Hi Niko...

I wrote you a response already, but I am not seeing it???  I'm not sure how this works...

I wanted to thank you for your help.  I da have all of my medicine filled at the same pharmacy and have never been made aware of any detrimental interactions between them.  I will definitely be asking my doctor and the pharmacy about it.

As far as moving... I have wanted to go away for years.  I am in a terrible situation here, and am constantly under a ton of stress and abuse.  I don't have any family near me and like it that way.  I only have a few close friends and I suppose I am a sort of home body.  Obviously, I spend most of my life in pain.

I thank God every day for my job!!  They have allowed me to work from home for the last few years and are extremely understanding and compassionate.  I don't have a clue what I would do without them.

Going to Colorado alone will not be much of a change for me in regard to support... I really don't have any here anyway.  I really just want to make sure that it is a safe place... I have done a lot of research and everything seems to be good.  I also may have found a house in my price range, so that is good.

I am hoping that I will be able to cut back on all this medicine if I live in a more comfortable place...  Thank you for the well wishes!

Hopefully someone here lives nearby Pueblo and can give me some more info on the area..  For now, I am going to talk to doctor and pharmacy about these medications having interactions between them.. so thank you!

Michelle

Hi leavingsoon and welcome to the forum.

I would suggest to take your time, before making this decision.
Sometimes, we feel the urgency to make certain decisions, because
of let's say severe pain or whatever. If it's an emotional decision, bad,
if it as a logical decision, good!
You know as they say, "the grass is greener on the other side", but you still have to... cut it!
Just factor in everything you can think of.
For me, besides location and climate, a good support system (friends and family) would be high on the list.

Low barometric pressure and more sunshine is one factor, however, judging from all your conditions and all the drugs you're on, I doubt this alone is going to make a significant dent in your pain levels.
First of all, you need to visit your prescribing doctor and your pharmacist, to do something about all the MAJOR (4 at least) and moderate (5 at least) conflicting interactions between them! This is simply beyond me.
I'm just puzzled how do you manage to function!
Your body must be in a constant state of internal stress and I'm sure you
must feel at times totally overwhelmed with severe symptoms, resulting not only from your conditions, but also from the many side-effects and the  multiple interactions of the drugs, between them!

Have you ever questioned your treatments and did you ever seek any other options? There's a LOT that can be done!
Again, doctors don't seem to have time for this stuff. Most are used to just write a script and don't bother them much after that, right? Sad ):

Besides this, Pueblo Colorado seems to be an affordable area, which meets your criteria, more or less.
I have no  direct knowledge of Pueblo Co, as I have never been there and I live in Canada.

Hope you come across someone who lives there.

Best wishes.
Niko
