Just Curious

I was wondering how many of you, who have either a fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E. diagnosis works or worked in the medical field and/or have family members who are in the military... or live near a military base ?

I live in VA so there are many military facilities around.  I worked for the Nat'l Guard (civilian) and my ex worked on one of the bases here.  When I lived in Durham, NC we were about 5 mi. from one of the most highly known research facilities in the east...i'm assuming it includes bio. research as well.

My mother had the same history as I do with health.  She passed away from breast cancer.  My father passed with lung cancer; my step-mom had breast cancer; my youngest brother had skin cancer and I don't know about my oldest brother's health.

I do feel that these illnesses are caused by pathogens and mycoplasma infections and I believe Dr. Nicholson proved this in his research.  I'm not going to go into more here; I don't want to be labeled as a conspiracy theorist, but I will suggest that one read their govts. policies on testing of bio. chemicals and delve into what history has shown on how this task has been carried out.  Morgellon's Disease (which they also said was "all in their heads") is predominant in the states of CA, TX and FL...where chemtrails are most noticable.  This is a very real disease...YouTube has many videos available.

Regarding a genetic cause of these illnesses, I feel that one may be more genetically predisposed as to how their body may react to an 'intruder', but not that genetics is the cause.

Well I'm making great progress on treatment for my mycoplasma infection. I'll be honest.... treatment is slow, but it has been either curing or putting many people into relapse. Links to success stories are posted in our health pages.

As far as the gene that supposedly "causes" CFS (have not heard about this)... I asked Professor Nicolson if mycoplamas can alter our DNA... here's my question (scroll down) and his response:

A couple years ago, there was a lot talk about these mycoplasmal infections and then what I heard, was that it was not true. (or at least, not proven)  I haven't heard of any recent research where this has been substantiated. I have not heard of anyone being "cured" of FMS or CFS however, they do believe they have isolated the gene that causes CFS. It's not to say this research isn't promising, Dr. Nicolson seems to be a well-respected PHD. If they ever discover a cure, there will be a very long line, of that, I'm sure!

Hi Caroline,

The majority of fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients have mycoplasma infections. This is a bacterial infection.... just like the lyme bacteria ! Fortunately, there is treatment. From Dr. Garth Nicolson's website:

"Our recently published studies demonstrated a possible link between mycoplasmal infections and CFS and FMS, since we found high frequencies of mycoplasmal infections in these patients. Previously we examined patients with chronic illnesses for the presence of mycoplasmal infections.

Hi highly recommend that you, and others, watch this video. Prof. Garth Nicolson (a MedHelp guest physician who was answering our questions in October) talks about fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, autism and the spread of these diseases in families. The research is proving that these bacterial illnesses may not be contagious, but communicable. Also... if you have fibro or CFS, you should not donate blood.
