Numbness / tingling / pain

A brief history:

I am a woman of 55 years of age.  I have fibromyalgia, severe fatigue and depression.  I take Cymbalta and use Cataflam for inflammation and Lunesta for sleep (PRN).  Weight 117, 5'5"  I eat well, drink wine and exercise when I feel well enough.  I work full time and I live alone.  I sleep poorly, nightly.

The issue:

For the past month, I am experiencing severe numbness and pain in my 3rd and 4th fingers during the night on both sides, but worse in my right hand.  It is painful enough to wake me and hurts plenty when the numbness --> tingling.

I sleep on my sides and have for years without problems.

I have been dealing with a shoulder injury (slipped and fell on some ice last winter), but it did not lead me to seek a medical evaluation.  I also have a bad arthritic left thumb from "rough riding" on snow mobiles over many years.

I have had my share of "sport-related injuries" over a 30 + year athletic life-style that has, for the most part, been "too much", "too often" "too intense".

What has change most dramatically over the past three years, however, is have been under continuous "protracted" stress (long story).

I am beginning to see my body / mind show various symptoms that I have not experienced before this period;  this neuralgia is one, and I am becoming very concerned.

Any ideas before I run off to the doctors and spend $$$$$$ on all kinds of tests?

Standing by and thank you

Spock

Thank you for taking the time to comment.  I have been using Magnesium and it seems to be helping. I hope others have tried this.

Happy you are doing "really" well.  It sucks being ill.

Cheers and carry on

Don't jump the gun and think the worst.  Fibro causes very tight muscles in your neck, your neck contains the nerves that run down your arms and into your hands.  If these muscles are torked then the pinching can cause the pain, numbing and tingling.  Try getting someone to work the shoulder muscles by gently messaging.  I use a vibrating heating pad when my hubby isn't around.  Magnesium is very helpful for the muscles by helping them to relax and function properly.  I use 250mg 2x daily.  I am a life sufferer of fibro&cfs and was heavely sticken with it the past 12 yrs ago but I am doing really well now.  I hope you find relief.

It sounds like you have nueropthy. I have it in my back right leg, right arm and in my right 2 fingers. Lycria is the life saver for this on. I helps stop all nervers that have been damaged and helps stops the numbness and tingling.
