It's good that you are seeing a neurologist on friday. If you are looking for the diagnoses of fibro, you would need to see a rhuematologist as that is their specialty. They should be the ones to actually diagnose this disease.
Please check out our Health Pages in the Newly Diagnosed area. This will tell you other illness that can mimic FMs and what should be ruled out prior to receiving this dx.
In answer to your questions, yes it can cause your whole body to hurt or just areas of your body. The pain can last from hours to months and it can wax and wane anytime. This is the nature of this disease...it is totally unpredictable.
Caroline has a great idea and that would certainly help. You could keep track of this by using our FMS/CFS Tracker as this can be printed out. I'm glad that your neuro is taking the steps to check you for MS. That is important. Please keep in touch to let us know how your visit goes.
Take care of yourself.
Hi Cheri,
You know, history is an important part of diagnosing. What you can do on your part is to keep a journal of your pain, describing the location, type, intensity etc. Also keep record of any other symptoms, even if they seem unrelated. Include anything you think may be helpful. It isn't too late to do this even though you're seeing a doc on Fri. It may help you to make sense of what's happening too. Often times they will ask you to rate pain level on a 1-10, 10 being over the top or need to go to the hospital-type pain. I wish you luck on acheiving a diagnosis.
