i did some research on TMJ and Dr. Clark says that it is caused by the muscles going into spasm trying to get rid of the infection - caused by a bad tooth!!
You might want to see your dentist.  A "silver" filling might also be the culprit - they leak mercury into our bodies causing a slow poisoning.

Sorry it took me so long to reply! I was out of state for a family reunion, and then had to rest up!

You got this one "right on" except I don't have silver fillings! Shortly before getting that headache,I'd had a tooth pulled. The dentist told me that when the filling fell out,it left nothing to save-unless he did a root canal.(He did comment the tooth was on a nerve).I know other teeth need to be pulled.Between caregiving and losing dental insurance for a long time,I wasn't able to go to a dentist for a long time;just take care of my teeth the best I could at home.

Temporal mandibular means it's related to the jaw.  Also called TMJ ....

Thank you for looking it up and replying.I remember the article saying something about the temporal mandibular(or something like that;I'm 1/2 asleep right now!).I've had that type of headache once before.I'm hoping it will be an infrequent visitor!

Fortunately I've never (so far!) gotten the burning type of headache.

After looking up the sunct headache it may be what I call "neuralgia" or "neuritis".  I take Gabapentin for it.  Doesn't happen too often though  - maybe because I take so many supplements...
I get a burning type of headache on one side that makes my eye water and the slightest breeze can cause excruciating pain -   I call it neuritis/neuralgia.

I've never heard of sunct headaches.  But I have three types of migraine.  I also get "strange" headaches with bumps that come up somewhere on my head/scalp without diagnosis.

Thanks for the info.  I will look it up.  Not that I want to have that kind of headache... but maybe I have that type too.... LOL
