It's been many years that i've had to take medication in order to sleep. The restless legs began before my fibro dx, then developed into periodic limb movement disorder. I take one xanax to relax me and make me sleepy, then I take one trazadone in order to stay asleep. It is the only thing i've found that helps me sleep through the night.
I pray you find a solution soon, as you need good sleep so your body can restore itself. Take care.
Hi gram !
Are you on any treatment protocols to try to cure your illness ? I would highly recommend checking out our Health Pages (look to the right of your screen) and reading about various fibro & CFS treatments.... the ones recommended by the experts (and some of these experts have fibro or CFS themselves).
Here are some natural sleep remedies and then prescription sleep remedies....(from Dr. Teitelbaum's book, "From Fatigued to Fantastic") Of course if you consider taking any of these, you need to discuss with your physician first.
Natural Sleep Remedies
magnesium & calcium --- "taking at least 75 to 150 miligrams at night is a good idea because it can help you sleep"
Valerian and lemon balm
Passionflower
5-Hydroxy L-trypotophan (5-HTP)
Kava Kava --- Dr. Teitelbaum recommends using a 30% extract, and taking anywhere from 200 to 750 miligrams at night. With prolonged use, he says that a rash may occur and this can sometimes be resolved by taking vitamin B complex. It the rash persists, then he recommends discontinuing kava kava. In rare cases, liver problems have occurred in patients who use kava kava.
Melatonin
St. John's Wort
Fatigued to Fantastic Revisalizing Sleep Formula --- Dr. Teitelbaum's formula
A nasal spray that combines itraconzole (Sporanox), xylitol, mupirocin (Bactroban), and dexamathasone. It is available by prescription from a compounding pharmacy. According to Teitelbaum's book, "it is often very effective if breathing difficulties resulting from sinusitis is contributing to sleep problems and fatigue".

Hi there;
I've had the same problem, and I've taken sleep aids for years also. Now I take Restoril one night and the next I use over the counter sleep aids. I know how miserable it is not to get enough sleep. I don't like taking the sleeping pills, but in order to function at all, I have to. I stopped fighting it and take my pills and sleep.
I can take 2 Advil PM and they work better than the perscription sleep med. Tylenol PM makes me sick at my tummy so I stay away from them. Goos luck.
gentle hugs
Angel
