Worried

Hello,
I am getting concerned and I am unclear what my next step (if any) should be. Over the last 5 years (I'm 29 F) I have had the following occur:
blinding head pains that never last more than 1 minute - Pain can pulsate
Pains anywhere in body, feels like stabbing and can pulsate lasting 1 second to a minute
Pinprick feeling in my fingertips, like I'm having blood taken. Can also pulsate and last up to a minute
Fluttering eyes (can't control eye movement) this only happened once or twice
Double vision (prisms in my glasses have helped a bit)
muscle spasms anywhere in body
pins and needles in right leg (can be severe) and a little in my right arm though not as often as the leg or as severe. this just started to happen in the last week.
Burning sensations in limbs
Hearing changes, like I'm underwater and then ringing in the ears
A few days ago I was going to pass out and fall over. The room was spinning I couldn't focus and I got really hot and felt sick to my stomach. I could barely talk I felt so out of it. I've never had that happen before.
Later that same day I walked across the room and couldn’t put my right foot on the floor, every time I moved my toes or foot I would get shooting unbearable pain in the back of my ankle. The next day I was fine.

I have hip dysplasia, 2 slipped discs in my lower back (had an MRI) and have been told in the past that I have fibromyalgia and IBS. I just had an EMG done on my right arm and leg and the results were normal. My family doctor put me on Lyrica which I'm up to 150 mg a day with no relief. I have also been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries and am currently undergoing fertility treatment and taking Metformin at 500 mg 3 times a day. I will be starting hormone shots within 2 months for an IUI (artifical insemination).

I am concerned that something is happening that is not related to any of these because everything seems to be nerve pain. Should I see a doctor other than my family doctor? Thanks for your help!

sounds to me like something neurological but if you habe a family physician who you trust and he is willing to send you to different doctors when  he feels like something is beyond his medical expertize then I would stay eith him but only if he is willing to admit he doesn't know how to help you. I wouls want the MRI and neurological workup ASAO. Feel better.

Thanks so much for your response! Yes my family dr has been great and has referred me to a neurologist. The appt is at the end of the month. I'll be sure to mention the glucose. I haven't had an MRI yet. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again!

It sounds like this could be anything from periods of low blood glucose, to too  high, blood sugar.  Has your glucose been checked?  There are so many conditions that could fit these symptoms, which only a doctor can sort out.  I would not rule out side effects from your medications all the way to diseases like Multiple Sclerosis.  The "blinding" quick "head pains" you speak of can be called Trigeminal Neuralgia or even TMJ. (Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder).  I call them "ice-pick pains.  That's exactly what they feel like.

Have you had an MRI of your brain and spinal cord?  Thank goodness you seem to have a good family doctor that is "listening" and taking some action. I believe that a thorough work-up from Neurologist or Rhuematologist is in order.  Please keep us informed about your progress.

Best Wishes, Heather
