Fibro is not considered a progressive illness. The symptoms wax and wane and as Patsy stated, it is different for everyone. To be totally honest with you, I have heard of some who are in a wheelchair from fibro. I am 55 and was dx'd 4 yrs. ago (though I had fibro since I was a youth). I think that having this illness, along with the normal aging processes, makes us less able to bounce back as quickly as we did when we were younger.
While flaring, there are days I just stay in bed. Other days I can lead a relatively normal life. It is different for evey individual. I certainly pray that you do not end up bound to a chair...that is something that none of us would want. If you haven't been checked for other conditions, please visit with your physician to have the tests done.
Wishing you the best.
I think it's different for everyone. Have you had all other diseases ruled out like lyme disease? There are many people diagnosed with fibro when they really have treatable conditions like lyme.
