long storey, too few answers

Well, here goes!  I have 9 ruptured discs in my back and surgery has been ruled out.  I have been diagnosed with Fibro, Restless Leg, Sciatic nerve compression, periferal neuropathy, compression neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, spinal stenosis, and, o yeah, I'm diabetic.  The pain has increased substantially to the point where I have no quality of life.  I take Lyrica, several diabetic medicines, 40 Mg Oxycontin three times a day with 10 Mg/325 Peercoset for blow over pain.  I also take Skylantin for muscle pain.  Over the past 10 years I have been to a book full of doctors and learned what to say and do and what not to.  I currently go to a pain management doctor as well as an internist for diabetis.  My current Pain guy has been great up to now and I like him but after 3 years going to him the problems have started.  He as removed the Percoset and I am now in bad pain again  Since joining this forum and doing a lot of reading I am convinced this is where I can get the answers and support I need to live with my problems.  My question is, How do I find a pain doctor who will work with me to keep my pain at a level that will let me have a life.  I know you know the answer because a great number of you have found good doctors.  I will take all the advice I can get with much appreciation.   Thank you in advance and God bless.  I should ad that I tolerate all meds well with few side effects..

I agree with VaBreeze, Accupuncture is a great way to go.  Also meditation works wonders.

Thanks alot for your input.  I have tried nerve blocks and electrostimulator and they didn't work.  I think I'll take your advice and talk to him about it.  I also have fibro and he doesn't seem to understand that very well, but mabee I can get somewhere if I try harder.  It's hard to think streight when your in so much pain.  I'll let you know what happens.  Thanks for the support.

will take you to a place with a listing of pain specialists/clinics in your area.  One thing that I failed to mention to you is trying accupuncture.  I've heard many wonderful things about it and have had it done (not for pain) and it was painless.

Good luck to you.

What was his reasoning for taking you off of the Percocet?  Have you called him to let him know you are having more difficulty since he removed it?  Has he ever talked to you about a morphine pump or spinal stimluator?  Some people have had great results with these methods.  Has he tried nerve blocks?

I'm not sure what you have tried previously, but I feel you need to contact him and get together to discuss your pain management.  He should have some type of plan developed for you and your situation.  If not, it may be that you seek another pain specialist who will give you a better quality of service than your current one affords you.

I wish I had a better answer for you because I can see where your pain is great.  I wish you the best of luck in finding the right person to help you.
