I just wrote this in response to a similar question but I think it is worth b repeating here.
"I maybe have similar pain it radiates from the sternam and around my chest. Often the pain is quite diffuse and hard to pin down but is quote severe and often wakes me. My massage therapist treated trigger points around my sturnam, chest fascia and under my arm. This pain hasn't woken me up for two weeks now. Odd pains still travel around the chest but more focused and less painful.
I would experiment with massage therapists until you find a good one. Quite a few I've been to just don't get it, a few are amazing."
Through many massage sessions I have found out that this is related to shoulder and postural issues, i believe I am making progress, although slowly, with massages, deep heat and valium. Opioids when pain get to high.
tx
all in my arms now as well trapped nerves i have been told it hurts like hell
both my wrists are strapped
i dont know
It is part of FM. I have the same thing except on the right side of my chest, it is so tender. Mine does come and go but it doesn't go for long. Its almost like you have so many aches you don't realize when one is gone or when one is back...thats a shame huh? haha We have to laugh because if we didn't, we would cry!!!!
My doctor recently suspects fibromyalgia, I have been in the emergency room atleast 8x since June 23 for chest pain. I got out of the hospital on the 23 from having pneumonia. I didn't have a severe cough but he says the tissue at the bottom of my asophagus tube is deteriated. It was found with an Upper GI. You may request one of those to find out what is going on, they can be very helpful in diagnosing.
this may be a duplicate response but i have intercostol chrondritis caused by trauma or virus its long term pain use anti inflammator drugs I went to the chiropractor he uses an activator on my collar bone and ribs its klnda like myofacial pain syndrome the tendons ligaments attach to the bones cartliges also you can try soma its a muscle relaxer, also watch your posture i was leaning over my PC for hours and hours making it spasm worse , water therapy helps
You should read up on Costochrondritis. I have had many chest pains, emergency room visits, 3 cardiologist, several normal tests. I saw a GP who was the first to suggest Costochrondritis. When you read about it, it will probably be an "ah-ha moment" . Good Luck
For about 4 years I have had pain in the chest wall muscles, almost where the ribs meet in the middle, even using soap when I showr is painful. Lately I have developed pain down the outer edges of all the ribs and up under my arms. Like you it feels like someone has punshed me and everything is brusised and tender.
I'm not sure why this happens, but it seems to be common with fibro though.
pleurisy pains would be like hurting if u took a deep breath is that right?
mine is kinda just sore all over i feel as if i have been knocked down without the brusing.it is a really tiring dull pain sometimes shooting
esp after exercise .i dont if i have damaged the muscles from work or from exercising over the years ,but it is starting to affect my shoulders and neck as well.it is definitely all around my ribs and going under my arm.i did see a doc again the other aand he thinks it might be immune related but i dont know all new to me
I have CFS... but I too get chest pains. However, my pains are pleurisy like symptoms and I have pain right underneath my rib cage.
I have been to the emergency room 3 times in the last 6 years thinking that I was having a heart attack my left rib cage and my left chest hurt so bad I was sure I was dying. I have had all the heart test done during the time of pain and everything comes back normal . I think that everybody with fibromyalgia has widespread pain but have certain areas that are more sensitive. My doctor said she didnt know if it was related to the fibromyalgia and I started doing research on the internet and got on line to fibromyalgia.com and under the monter list of symptoms chest and rib pain is listed there. I hope that helps.
yeah i had my heart checked a good while ago and altough i suffer from pvcs it is not related .i had have ep studys ,2 stress tests ,cardiogram, loads of holter monitors
so i can rule out heart involement at the moment.their is just loads of bumps on my muscle as if is broken in bits ,
anyway cheers for your reply
I too have very sore rib cage along with upper chest, neck, shoulders (front and back) and upper and mid back. Has your heart been checked with an EKG during a painful time? All symptoms should be checked and not assumed to be FMS symptoms. If your Dr. doesn't take things seriously-find another. RA drs. are usually the best choice. Try heat (warm) to sooth muscles, take ibeprophen (Advil) if you can, for inflamation. Extra Magnesium should be taken everyday for muscle health-which eases the spasm. If in doubt about your heart, go to the ER- don't take chances PLEASE. Sharon
